Well, it finally happened. I'm in-love. I just bought a metalic cobalt blue Mazda RX8. It is totally my personality. She fits me like a glove. I love driving it. It's very fast and a lot of fun. Now, all I need is a motorcycle and a trip to Europe. My life would be just about complete.

I just bought a car today. I'm so excited. Some of my regular clients know that I've been wanting and needing a car. I just bought me a 2004 Mazada Rx8. It's metalic cobalt blue. It's beautiful. One down and 1 to go. What do I mean? Well, on my wish list, I had two items: a car and a motorcycle. It may be a while before I get that motorcycle, but I'm sure going to enjoy driving my new car; while I keep my eyes open for that motorcycle. Of course!

Swedish, deep tissue, and sports massage are all modalities we pretty much get. However as I progress in my massage career, I've come across some really bizarre sounding massages offered
out there. As helpful or good as they may be, their names don't serve them much justice. Here's what has come to my mind thus far:
Rolfing. Is this a massage technique or a new trendy word for throwing up?
Myofacial Release. Sounds naughty to me. Just saying.
Lymphatic Drainage. Gross! Why would anyone ever ask for that? Sounds like something you need after
surgery.
Structural Integration. Sounds like something a therapist would prescribe.
Oshiatsu. Isn't this a dog breed?
Cranialsacral Therapy. Sounds like a recovery plan after a brain injury.
Trauma Erase. Well, dang. Hook me up. I mean doesn't every one need this after their 1st marriage?
Zero Balancing. Sounds like my checking account.
Tellington Touch. Touch and tell. Come on, for real?
Okay. Okay. That's all I've got for now. Even though there are many many more. Please don't get me wrong. I'm a therapist and have the up most respect for these modalities and their creators. But, you've got to admit. It really is funny. And if you're like me, you've heard of some of these modalities that
therapist offer without any explanation, none of which sound the least bit appealing, and leaving us to fill in the blanks.
We're not likely to seek out, let alone, pay for these services; no matter how good they might be. They really should have come up with better names. This is another reason why I specialize in plain and simple relaxation massage. It feels great and you don't have to carry a medical dictionary with you to figure out what's on the menu.
Hope you got a laugh out this as much as I enjoyed writing it. Humor revives the spirit. Please email me anything you come across that sounds weird or makes you chuckle a little so I can add it to our list.
Namaste,
Michelle

For those of you who haven't experienced a massage from me yet, I thought I would give a brief synopsis of my style of massage. During massage school, I got introduced to a massage technique call Lomi Lomi. It is a modality originating from Hawaii. It is very rhythmic with a continuous smooth flow. Even though the basis of my technique is Swedish, I have adapted many of the Lomi Lomi techniques into my routine. During each massage, I also wipe you down with a soothing hot moist towel. It helps infuse the oi into the skin and it also helps to wipe away excess oil. I also use soft lighting and music to set the mood for a very relaxing massage. I've added this video to help give you a visual of the type of massage you will receive from me. My dream is to one day travel to Hawaii to study this technique and become a master at Lomi Lomi massage.
